I apologize for any confusion we may have created in yesterday’s update regarding our independent living residents. All guidelines and restrictions are still in place. Today I need to share both good and bad news regarding the pandemic. I’m sorry to have to report that two of our residents recently passed away in local hospitals from complications related to COVID 19. Our heart goes out to their families and friends during this difficult time.

As we enter our third month of managing this pandemic, I wanted to share some encouraging news with you. As we noted, when we identified a positive test in our Haven’s facility, we made the decision to test all of our residents and staff in that building. I’m happy to report that all of the resident tests came back negative.

Although the Governor implemented Phase 1 of re-opening on 5/15, this does not mean Brandermill Woods will be following the same guidelines. Many states place Senior Living Facilities into the last Phases of re-opening. Since we care for the population that is most at risk for complications from COVID-19, we need to be strategic, paced and deliberate in this decision for the safety of our residents and staff. Despite all of our efforts to contain the coronavirus in a single facility, we have learned that one resident in The Haven Nursing community tested positive for COVID-19. I know this is frustrating news to hear and we all share that reaction. Unfortunately, senior living communities across the Commonwealth have been hit hard by this pandemic.
