Peace of Mind at Brandermill Woods

Friday, June 26, 2020

The last weeks and months have been filled with much uncertainty. When 2020 began, we had no idea we’d soon be in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. While we are still living out this story without an ending, we have persevered through months of staying at home and social distancing, and we are proud of how our residents, their families and our team members have all risen to the challenges.

At times such as these, we can be glad to be a part of a caring community that puts our neighbors’ safety first.

How Brandermill Woods responded

Since March, Brandermill Woods has put in numerous safety measures and precautions to keep our community safe. Face masks have been required for all staff, and residents. Vendors, outside contractors and visitors were not permitted on property, unless medically necessary or dropping off groceries. Residents were permitted to leave for essential visits such as grocery stores, pharmacies and medical appointments. Those permitted on property and residents re-entering the property were screened at the front entrance.

Our dining rooms have been closed due to the Governor’s mandated stay at home orders, however we offer an alternative take-out menu in addition to increasing each resident’s food allowance. Grab and Go options are available such as wine, homemade soup, cookies and soft drinks. Our staff has been able to offer help with online shopping, as well as sign-ups for grocery shopping and pharmacy visits.

We cancelled all activities and group events but found ways to keep our residents engaged and entertained via our in-house television station and unit iPads. In April the staff dressed in costumes and surprised the residents with a parade through the community to keep spirits up.

Beginning June 10, we began allowing one-hour, prescheduled outdoor visits. This has allowed much needed face-to-face interaction in a safe and controlled way.

This week we began the second phase of re-opening our Fitness Center, pool, and Beauty Salon. Fitness classes resume but with a limited number of residents allowed to attend.

Services at your ready

As we’ve protected our residents at Brandermill Woods, we’ve also offered the peace of mind of having staff at the ready when help was needed. We have a trained staff, access to medical care, and continuity of care, so residents could get more help when they needed it.

For those not already in senior living, it was not an easy time to transition in. That’s one of the most important benefits of making decisions about your health and well-being ahead of time — even before assistance is needed.

We hope you continue to feel the peace of mind that first brought you to our community. Brandermill Woods will be vigilant as we maintain the safety and well-being of our favorite people — our residents.
