Important Status Update from our Executive Director — 12/09/2020

Independent Living Community (ILU)

All COVID-19 test results have been received from Monday, December 7, 2020 testing. We are pleased to report that all employees who were tested were negative.

We had two residents, a couple, who were in quarantine due to an exposure by a caregiver who tested positive. They started having COVID-19 symptoms on Monday, so we tested them immediately. They both tested positive for COVID-19, and their quarantine has been extended. It was determined that no additional residents or employees were exposed to them. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers!

Due to our COVID-19 status, the increase in Chesterfield County’s positivity rate to 9.11% and Virginia’s positivity rate increasing to 10.4%, we are extending our lockdown for our ILU Community through December 20, 2020. Both the VA Department of Health representatives and our Infection Control Preventionist recommended extension as an extra precaution. Housekeeping services will continue to be suspended through December 20, 2020.

We continue to require for all approved medically necessary visitors and caregivers to provide us with a negative COVID-19 test result once a week before they are allowed to come to the ILU community. As stated, effective December 10, 2020, there will be no exceptions to this new protocol.

Please be assured that our Brandermill Woods Team is doing all it can to keep our community safe and prevent further spread. Our Health Care Community remains COVID free!

With news of a vaccine very close and CDC guidance to include long term care facilities, we are currently making plans to roll out a vaccination program at Brandermill Woods Health Care Community. Our plans are to include our ILU Community, as well, and we are waiting to hear from our pharmacy on how to proceed. We will keep you updated as we get closer to implementing that plan.

Thank you for being diligent following CDC guidelines, wearing a mask, social distancing and frequent handwashing. We are all exhausted from this pandemic but the end is near! We need to remain steadfast until the end. Remember that it has been recommended that you do not enter any building if you see people not wearing masks, it is not worth the risk.

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
