Important Status Update from Charmaine Preiss, Executive Director — 9/2/20

Wednesday, September 2, 2020

Effective today, Centers forMedicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued a testing mandate for all Health Care Communities.  With cases in Chesterfield County on the rise, it is mandated that we conduct another round of COVID-19 testing of residents and employees. The positivity rate of COVID-19tests in the area recently rose to 9.1%, which means we have to test everyone in our Health Care Community at least once every seven days until the positivity rate drops below 5%. If the positivity rate increases over 10%, then we will be required to test everyone twice a week.

We plan to conduct the first round of tests next Tuesday, September 8, 2020 for residents and employees at The Haven, Assisted Living and Memory Care.

I know the news of another round of testing is not what anyone wants to hear, but it’s important if we want to keep everyone safe. Over these last few months, we have been able to avoid any widespread coronavirus outbreaks in our facilities because we are doing our very best to follow the safety protocols from the CDC and local health department. We know these measures are effective and can help save lives. We thank you for your cooperation.

As always, we ask everyone to please following CDC guidelines by wearing a mask, washing your hands frequently and practicing social distancing.
