Important Status Update from Charmaine Preiss, Executive Director—8/11/21

Wednesday, August 11, 2021

To all Residents and Family Members:

As of August 3, 2021, Chesterfield County’s positivity rate has increased to 10.3%, the Delta variant crisis is quickly evolving and the Coronavirus pandemic continues. Brandermill Woods has taken and will continue to take the following actions to protect our residents and employees during this time.

Effective today, for Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and The Haven Health Care Communities, we have initiated a mandatory requirement for the COVID-19 Vaccination. We are requiring nursing agencies, ancillary medical personnel, volunteers, home health providers, private aides and hospice staff, students, contractors working with our residents, within any of our buildings to provide proof of vaccination by October 1, 2021, to continue working with us or on our campus.

If you employ private caregivers, they must also provide a COVID -19 Vaccination Record and submit to COVID-19 testing when required.

We anticipate that some staff will elect not to vaccinate and therefore, based on our policy, will have voluntarily resigned. It is important for all residents and families to know that we treat all staff and associates with respect regardless of medical or religious accommodations regarding vaccinations.

For all unvaccinated family members, getting the COVID-19 vaccine gives you an added layer of protection against COVID-19 and will protect our residents and your families. However, when you visit our residents, please continue to wear a KN95 or N95 mask at all times during your visit for the safety of your loved one.

Thank you for your cooperation and support as we carry out this new policy.
