Independent Living Community (ILU)

In the midst of a holiday season that is supposed to be filled with joy and happiness, I’m sorry to report that two of our residents have recently passed as a result of COVID-19. Our hearts go out to the families and friends of our lost neighbors. This pandemic has caused a lot of heartache in our community and across the nation. I know we have all grown weary of the safety protocols and the restrictions in place especially when we are so close to having a vaccine that can end this awful pandemic. We are on the eve of putting this disaster behind us, but we must not let our guard down. The life of a loved one or neighbor might depend on it.

Chesterfield County’s positivity rate posted on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) website has increased to 15.5%. Due to this increase, we are adding some restrictions for residents who leave the ILU community. However, the ILU on-campus “lockdown” will not be extended past December 20, 2020. Please see the attached updated ILU Protocols for specific updates.

We will continue to require for all approved medically necessary visitors and caregivers to provide us with a negative COVID-19 test result once a week before they are allowed to come to the ILU community until further notice.

CVS notified us of a tentative schedule for our vaccination program for The Haven residents and for all Brandermill Woods employees. The first round of vaccines is scheduled for January 14, 2021 and the second round on February 4, 2021.  We will update you on the plan for the residents at the Assisted Living Community and Memory Care, when the information is available. Currently, we are advocating for the vaccines to extend to our ILU community residents during the Phase 1 vaccination program. We will keep you updated on our progress.

On behalf of all Brandermill Woods employees, we thank the residents and families for their generosity towards the Resident EmployeeAppreciation Fund.

With heartfelt wishes, we hope you have a safe Holidays season!
