Our Volunteers Are Worth a Fortune

As an organization, we’re all about community. We’re dedicated to providing an active and exciting retirement community for our residents—and we’re proud to play a role in making Central Virginia a great place to live, work and play.

“For communities to succeed, you need volunteers to help keep things running,” said Kathy Babbitt, communications coordinator for Brandermill Woods. “For National Volunteers Month, we held a special luncheon to say thank you to our resident volunteers. They are an integral part of the fabric woven into our community.”

Brandermill Woods’ has a group of 58 active residents who publish a newsletter, maintain a community library, organize activities and more. In the health care center, several volunteers organize regular bingo games and deliver mail. “The main thing is they want to give back and do something for the community where they live,” said Babbitt.

To show our appreciation, Brandermill Woods hosted a volunteer luncheon on April 26. Themed “Our Volunteers Are Worth a Fortune,” attendees enjoyed oriental chicken salad and fortune cookies. “It was a special day,” said Babbitt. “Our volunteers take pride in our community, so we wanted to honor them and give them a treat for all they do.”
